Nueva Manteca is terug in al zijn glorie. Een nieuwe, adembenemende band met een frisse, internationale bezetting afkomstig uit Nederland, Venezuela, Duitsland en Uruguay. Aftrap voor de vernieuwde band waren zeer succesvolle tournees in Colombia (2018) en Israël (2019), en tijdens de lockdown een unplugged-tour door Zuid-Hollandse parken!
Nueva Manteca heeft een onomstreden status in de wereld van de latinjazz, met hun kenmerkende mix van dansbare Cubaanse muziek en energieke jazz. “Europe's finest in Latin Jazz”, schreef recensent Raoul Rico in het toonaangevende magazine Latin Beat over Nueva Manteca. Niet voor niets stond de groep in het verleden op het podium met diverse internationale Latin sterren zoals Paquito d'Rivera, Arturo Sandoval en Giovanni Hidalgo, en speelde het op prestigieuze clubs en festivals over de hele wereld, zoals Montreal Jazz Fest, Heineken Jazz Puerto Rico en meerdere malen op North Sea Jazz.
Nog steeds brengt de band warme, high energy muziek waar de spetters van af vliegen. Nueva Manteca speelt een nieuw programma, ART, dat ook als album zal verschijnen. Dit is het dertiende album van de groep en het zal uitkomen in 2022. ART is een hommage en aan hardbop-legende Art Blakey en aan Jan L. Hartong, de in 2018 overleden oprichter en
spirituele vader van Nueva Manteca.

Nueva Manteca is back! This exciting band has a fresh international line-up consisting of
artists from The Netherlands, Venezuela, Germany and Uruguay. With this line-up they
already played some very well received tours in Colombia (2018) and Israël (2019), as
well as an unplugged tour in several Dutch parks during the lockdown.
Nueva Manteca's status in the Latin Jazz world is undisputed, playing their distinctive mix
of danceable Cuban music and high-energy jazz. “Europe's finest in Latin Jazz”, Raoul
Rico wrote in the leading magazine Latin Beat over Nueva Manteca. The group worked
together with all kinds of international Latin stars like Paquito d'Rivera, Arturo Sandoval
and Giovanni Hidalgo, and played prestigious clubs and festivals all over the world, like
Montreal Jazz Fest, Heineken Jazz Puerto Rico and several times at North Sea Jazz.
The band still plays their warm high-energy music, full of fire. This time Nueva Manteca
plays a new programme called ART. It will also be released as an album, their thirteenth, in
2022, and it is a tribute to hardbop legend Art Blakey, as well as to Jan L. Hartong, the
founder and spiritual father of Nueva Manteca who died in 2018.
