De leden van dit trio uit Nicosia hebben allemaal een andere achtergrond maar zijn wel allemaal op diverse niveau's beïnvloed door de traditionele muziek van hun vaderland Cyprus. De composities van Monsieur Doumani zijn geïnspireerd door de hedendaagse Cypriotische maatschappij en de woelige, onzekere tijden van ons huidige tijdvak.
De groep startte met traditionele Cypriotische nummers aan te passen door ze een specifieke hedendaagse klankkleur te geven, niet alleen qua geluid, maar ook qua sfeer.
Maar nu, na 10 jaar spelen en met een nieuw album op komst (in september 2021 op het Glitterbeat label!), gaat de groep nog een stap verder door een vol, rauw psychedelisch geluid te incorporeren in hun muziek. Die muziek doet soms denken aan vintage Griekse muziek, soms aan 70s Turkse psychpop, maar altijd met hun eigen, kenmerkende kleur.
Monsieur Doumani heeft de afgelopen 10 jaar veel succesvolle concerten gespeeld over de halve wereld, van Womad tot Sziget, van Paradiso tot Mupa.

The members of this trio from Nicosia come from different backgrounds but are all influenced by the traditional music from Cyprus at various levels.
The compositions of Monsieur Doumani are inspired by the contemporary Cypriot society as well as the shaky conditions of our era.
Originally the group adapted traditional Cypriot pieces to a special contemporary color in sound and mood, forming a style distinctively their own.
But now after 10 years, with their new upcoming album, to be released by Glitterbeat in September 2021, they go even one step further, adding a full, raw-edged psychedelic sound to their music. Their music is sometimes reminiscent of vintage Greek styles, other times of 70s Turkish psychpop and psychrock, but always with their own, distinctive flavor.
In those 10 years Monsieur Doumani played successful concerts all over the world, from Womad to Sziget, from Paradiso to Mupa.
